Music
Intent
Our music curriculum at Preshute aims to inspire creativity and self-expression and to foster a life long love of music. By listening and responding to musical styles, exposing them to diverse musical experiences and encouraging performance opportunities this will enable them to become confident reflective musicians.
Implementation
Our aim is to understand what music is by
Listening
Performing (singing and playing)
Composing
Analysing ( wide variety of musical genres)
We aim to develop a curiosity for the subject and have opportunities for regular music making playing both tuned and untuned instruments and to begin to develop an understanding of musical terminology including notation.
We focus on developing the skills, knowledge and understanding that children need in order to become confident performers, composers and listeners.
Music is taught by class teachers who use the Kapow scheme of work.
